On November 28, 2025, at the Grand Hotel Đồng Khởi, the training conference “Legal Framework for E-Commerce Operations: Challenges and Opportunities” was co-organized by the Investment and Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City (ITPC) and Alibaba.com Vietnam. The event welcomed more than 200 participants from manufacturing and exporting enterprises, as well as representatives of various industry associations.
During the program, Dr. Candidate Le Sai Gon - a specialist with 15 years of experience in export–import training and consulting, and Founder of SIMEX Training Center - delivered a 45-minute keynote session focusing on two major topics:
1. Legal Readiness for Exporters: Preparing Standardized Documentation and Certificates
Dr. Le Sai Gon emphasized that in the cross-border e-commerce environment, standardized documentation serves as the “universal language” enabling Vietnamese businesses to enter global markets safely and confidently.
His presentation covered:
· Essential documentation required for export across different product groups
· Certificates aligned with FTA markets: C/O, C/Q, safety certificates, conformity assessment, phytosanitary and veterinary certificates, etc.
· Common risks stemming from missing or incorrect documents - and practical solutions to mitigate them
His insights were subsequently highlighted by VnBusiness, VTV.vn, and Thời Báo Ngân Hàng, which emphasized the rising importance of digitalizing trade documents and strengthening transparency in international B2B e-commerce.
2. FTAs as Gateways to Export Markets: Opportunities and Challenges
The second part of the session explored how next-generation Free Trade Agreements can serve as “passports” for Vietnamese enterprises expanding into international markets.
Key points included:
· Tariff advantages for sectors such as agriculture, textiles, machinery, chemicals, and footwear
· Market-entry strategies combining FTAs with cross-border e-commerce platforms
· Compliance challenges related to standards, trade remedies, traceability, and environmental requirements
Media reports unanimously echoed the conclusion that FTAs are becoming a decisive factor for Vietnamese companies seeking to enhance competitiveness and access global customers.
